From its beginning in 1987, Vista has charted a steady course of growth. During that year, the company drilled its
first 6 natural gas wells in Fayette and Warren Counties, Pennsylvania, and Ritchie County, West Virginia. Over the
next two years, an additional 37 wells were drilled in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
In 1989, Vista and three partners acquired the Sandy Lake Field in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. This acquisition
included 32 producing wells, one pipeline and 60-80 undeveloped locations. In 1990, Vista began drilling natural gas
wells in this same area - an area that was to become the core of its operations.
In 1994, Vista formed a strategic alliance with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries, Inc. (PPG), to build a four-mile
pipeline from PPG's Meadville, PA plant to Vista's Mercer County wells. To date, Vista has maintained a long-term
contract to supply natural gas to PPG. Vista has additional contracts to sell its natural gas to other industrial
customers along El Paso Corporation's pipeline system.
In 2001, Vista began to look for additional acreage in other areas of the country. Based on extensive research,
Vista decided to pursue exploration in the Rockies due to the large amount of undeveloped reserves, the success of
other oil and gas companies in that area and the amount of land available to lease. Vista has acquired acreage in the
Denver Julesberg Basin in eastern Colorado, and to date, 75 wells have been drilled. In 2006, Vista also began to
drill in Nebraska and by February of 2008, had drilled 54 wells with an 89% success rate. With the construction and
completion of the first two phases of the Rockies Express Pipeline (REX), natural gas prices in the West have begun to
rise. REX, which will run from Colorado to Ohio, should be fully operational by June 2009, and will transport natural
gas to markets in the mid-West and Northeast.
To date, Vista has drilled more than 765 wells at the Sandy Lake Field, with a 97% completion rate, constructed over
100 miles of natural gas pipelines and installed 3 compressor stations to increase production in the Field. Vista's
wells have produced in excess of 40 Bcf of natural gas and are expected to produce for more than twenty years. An
additional 100 to 150 new well locations are still available on our acreage in Mercer County, PA.
Our newest project involves the exploration and development of Marcellus shale wells in western Pennsylvania. This
shale play is becoming one of the most exciting prospects in the U.S. Since 2006, Vista has acquired over 20,000 acres
for prospective shale wells and recently signed a joint venture agreement with another oil and gas company to test this
area. If test results prove to be positive, Vista may include Marcellus wells in future drilling programs.
The Sandy Lake Field and the Rockies have proven to be excellent areas in which to drill. Over the last twenty
years, Vista has managed 46 drilling or investment programs involving more than 850 wells with a 97% completion rate.
Our future plans include additional drilling programs at the Sandy Lake Field and expanding our operations in the
Rockies. With the increasing demand for natural gas, independent producers, such as Vista Resources, are being called
upon to play a major role in meeting the energy challenges of the future. Vista is confidently meeting these challenges
by bringing our experience and expertise to the exploration and production of natural gas.
